Mother’s Day (Or Any Occasion) Gift Ideas

I have read a lot of gift idea/suggestion posts in the past. Once in a while I will find a good idea on there, but for the most part, it seems like they don’t fulfill their promises. 21 gifts perfect for the mother in your life! And I find maybe one or two ideas that might work, make a note of them, and move on looking for something better.

So. If you don’t find the perfect present idea for your mom or wife aunt or grandma or whoever you’re shopping for, I probably won’t be offended. Especially since I doubt I’ll know you read this and found it useless unless you write a mean comment. In that case, maybe I will be offended, because you will have gone out of your way to insult me. But if, on the other hand, you do see something here that helps you decide what to give, whether it’s an actual item I list or something completely different that I somehow remind you of, yay! I helped! You figured out your gift! Go us!

It’s late as I write this and I really want to get it posted, so to start out with I am only including the basic ideas. I’ll put links to some of my own products as appropriate soon, but this late in the game, you are probably better off buying from a local shop anyway.

Cooking Stuff

A lot of women spend a lot of time in the kitchen. So why not give the woman you are shopping for something nice to use there? Maybe a kitchen gadget she’s had her eyes on or that you know would cut down on a task she dislikes. Or some wall or fridge art to add a touch of her style to the place. Or an apron, so she can have some of her style showing while protecting the rest of her style. Her clothes. Which you probably got. Or a recipe book. Maybe she has a favorite food blogger who has recently released something new. Maybe you know she loves soul food, or Korean food, and would love to try to make some of her own. Or maybe she would just like to have her own recipes printed out and stored nicely organized in a binder of their own.

If your mother likes personalized striped things, I can help with that! Check out my Coordinating Striped Kitchen Collection on Zazzle.

Bags

Women often need to carry a lot of stuff around with them, and their pockets aren’t really designed for that. Thus, the ubiquitous purse. You could buy a new one of those, or a small zipper pouch (or a set) to help keep the one she already has organized. Or maybe a tote bag for those days and errands where the purse just won’t cut it.

Games/Jigsaw Puzzles

Moms deserve fun, too. So give her something to play with. And if your mother particularly likes difficult jigsaw puzzles, maybe she’d enjoy something from my Monochromatic Jigsaw Puzzles Collection.

Journals/Notebooks

Does your mom like to write or doodle? Give her somewhere to do that.

Drinkware

Everyone gets thirsty. And sometimes it’s nice to quench that first with something pretty, stylish, or just plain fun. So go find mom a mug or tumbler with a fun picture or quote, or maybe a travel mug to keep her hydrated on the go.

Something Cozy

At the end of a long day, who doesn’t enjoy getting out of their public clothes and cuddling up in something a little more comfortable? Some soft pajamas, a fuzzy bathrobe, a blanket, or slippers are all perfectly appropriate gifts that a lot of mothers would love to receive.

Footwear

Speaking of slippers, one thing women are known for is their love for shoes. As is typical of stereotypes, this doesn’t apply to all. But if it does fit the one you are shopping for, well, there’s an idea. If you don’t feel confident picking out a pair of shoes for somebody else (and I do understand), maybe she needs a new shoe organizer? But if you do think you can choose something for her, take a look at my flip-flop sandals on Zazzle or my Bucketfeet slip-on shoes on Threadless.
